Polyurethane casting (PU casting)

Schouten Group | Blueshape

Schouten Group | Blueshape provides professional polyurethane (PU) manufacturing

services for companies looking to produce prototypes, custom components, and small to medium-sized production runs. We manufacture high-quality PU components using automated 2K PU casting with our Syntec Form2K casting machines, as well as manual casting processes upon request.

From rigid structural components to flexible casting rubbers, we offer polyurethane solutions in a range of Shore hardnesses and customer-specific colors. We can manufacture using our own molds, your existing molds, or cast directly into your products.

From product development to series production, everything is managed through a single point of contact, with fast quotations and short lead times.

Machined casting

Machine casting with our Syntec Form2K casting machines ensures consistent and reproducible results. Ideal for high volumes and series production of identical components.

Manual casting

Manual casting offers maximum flexibility. This method is ideal for prototypes, small quantities, complex shapes, or specific material combinations. We respond directly to your custom requirements and work closely with you throughout the process.

Applications: Industries and Products

Our casting services serve a wide range of industries. Below are some of the most common applications by sector.

Prototyping & Product Development

Functional prototypes in the required hardness and color, without the cost of an injection molding tool. From test components to small batches of identical parts for testing, presentations, and trade shows.

Small-Series Production

For production runs ranging from a few to several dozen pieces, PU casting is faster and more cost-effective than producing a mold, while still delivering parts with a production-quality appearance and consistent properties.

Industry & Machine Building

Housings, protective covers, wear-resistant components, dampers, seals, and flexible components for functional systems. We advise on material selection based on mechanical loads, temperature, and chemical exposure.

Design, Art & Visual Models

Presentation models, design objects, and visual prototypes in high-quality, finished or colored PU. From one-off pieces to reproducible series.

How does our PU casting production service work?

You can submit an inquiry through two different routes, depending on your workflow:

Route 1 – Submit an Inquiry via Our Wizard

Through our digital platform, you can easily create a project, select the required technique, upload your files, and specify your material, hardness, and color requirements. We manually review each inquiry and, if necessary, send you any additional questions before providing a quotation tailored to your requirements.

Route 2 – Submit an Inquiry by Email

Would you prefer to submit your inquiry by email? Simply send us an email with as much information as possible and, if applicable, include your files. We manually review your inquiry and, if necessary, contact you with additional questions before providing a quotation.

FAQ

In polyurethane casting, a two-component PU system (an A and B component) is mixed and poured into a mold, where it cures into a solid part. Depending on the system, the result can be a hard, rigid component or a flexible, rubber-like product. We perform atmospheric casting, both mechanically using our Syntec Form2K casting machines and manually upon request.

We supply PU components in a wide range of Shore hardnesses, from soft and rubber-like (Shore A) to hard and rigid (Shore D). The most suitable hardness depends on your specific application. We are happy to advise you on the best option.

Yes. We color PU components throughout the material in customer-specific colors and can match them to a desired color reference.

Absolutely. We can cast using molds you provide, and we can also cast PU directly into or around existing products. If you do not have a mold, we can produce one ourselves, for example a silicone mold based on your 3D model.

Lead time depends on the complexity, quantity, and material. Thanks to our streamlined processes and in-house material expertise, we can offer short lead times. Request a quotation for a specific estimate.

Absolutely. As a materials specialist, we advise on the most suitable PU systems, hardnesses, and finishes based on mechanical loads, temperature, chemical environments, and the desired appearance.
